I can't believe that what I feel is really happening to me Why does it have to be that the person who cares the least in a relationship has the most power? Man, everything I learned about relationships was from Ms. Wood's sociology class in my OAC year. Seriously, so much of that stuff has come up in my other classes. Like, a while ago, my social psych professor was lecturing about Sternberg's Triangle Theory and, I already knew what he was talking about since I had already learned it. If I could go back, I would retake Ms. Wood's class. It was amazing and she is a great teacher. Back to my original thought about caring in relationships. It does make sense that the person who cares the least has the power. They are the ones who can walk away, they are the ones who do not have as profound an attachment, they are the ones who could cheat, they are the ones who could say "no". It's tough for the other person when they find out that they are the one who cares the most. I guess in many relationships, there is always an unsaid understanding that you like each other equally. When you find out that that isn't true, it's upsetting. You start to wonder if the other person even likes you at all or if they are just putting up with you because you like them. It's not fair that one person always has to love more. At times, those roles may change but, personally, I think that, even though the roles may shift on occassion, there is always one person who cares more. It's tough being that person. You won't be the one who walks away but, the one you love just might and that breaks your heart, especially if you know that they will walk away eventually. It breaks your heart.    |
